Page 1 of Sat Nav PDA v TomTom
General Forum
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am considering buying a sat nav, but I don`t know whether to get a PDA with the software and antenna, or a normal Sat Nav like Tom Tom or Navman. I will need European maps as well as I am in the Army and about to be posted to Germany.
It really depends on whether you need the added functionality of a PDA / Pocket PC i.e. Poket Word, Excel, Outlook etc. I have a Pocket PC with built in GPS running TomTom Navigator 5 and have no complaints at all, other than the voice instructions are a little quiet - rectified by plugging in a set of amplified walkman speakers.

Last time I was in Exeter Staples they had the Zire (71) & GPS pack for £99.
I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.
