Travelling to Woolwich - help and info please

dvd_vicar (Elite) posted this on Friday, 7th October 2005, 08:03

My partner`s Mum has just passed away and is to be buried, as per her wishes, next to her husband in Woolwich New Cemetary. We will be travelling by train next Tuesday from the wilds of Herefordshire and any help on routes would be much appreciated. Timetable suggests Paddington, then Tube to London Bridge, then Train to Plumstead.
Is this the best route?

I chose Plumsted Station, cos on the map it seemed nearest - is there a better option?

Also, after the burial, in case any distant rels appear, any suggestions for a local pub within easy walking distance, that might do a cuppa or sandwich type thing.
Ta very much

Yup Paddington take the Bakerloo to Baker Street & walk the 30ft to the Jubilee line to London Bridge.

From there I would have thought Woolwich Arsenal or Dockyard would have been the stations, but I don`t know where Woolwich New Cemetary is in relation to the stations.

I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

If this is Woolwich New Cemetary on Camdale Road,

then you`re better off going to Welling Station (from London Bridge). It`s still a bit of a walk.

If you are going to get off at Plumstead, then you`ll have to get a 96 bus to Wickham Lane. Incidentally, there are a few pubs on Wickham Lane for refreshment.

While you`ll have to dial for a mini-cab from Plumstead or Welling,

Woolwich Arsenal has a taxi rank right outside.
