Not sure I understand your motivation behind that comment Zovirax. He was asked what he thought the bombers motives were, not his own opinions on the rights and wrongs of what happened.

Why does suggesting the bombers were motivated by reasons, that we in the west feel uncomfortable about, merit that kind of outburst ?

mayor livingstone speaks absollute bo**ocks and thank god most people in the country think so to,although you wouldnt believe so by the way he gets so much airtime,there is nothing and i mean nothing that caused the bombing other than a bunch of muslim extremists who gratefully were killed in the blasts,they got what they deserved and will go down to hell where they will join all the other extremist scum who have done simular deeds, and to all the ones who want to join them by doing these deeds i hope they are hunted down and shot before they kill other innocent people.

Typcial knee-jerk reaction despite Ken actually saying

The London mayor told BBC News he had no sympathy with the bombers and he opposed all violence.

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who buy into the theory
(George Bush`s theory in fact) that "they attack us because of our freedom and democracy". That is utter crap...as any Muslim will tell you (if only people listen)

Now, I re-iterate that I do not condone the actions of these bombers..the loss of
ANY innocent lives is repulsive..but to deny any reasoning as to why the bombers
may have been swayed into their actions is really akin to one "burying their heads in the sand".

People have different ways of expressing themselves..the extreme being what these
bombers did but if one really needs to win the "War on Terror", one needs to understand
the root-causes of peoples frustrations and not side-line it because they are against "our way of life".

I commend Ken to daring to suggest the reasons behind the attacks (while condemning them), as do other people.

Again, he didn`t excuse them - he condemned them.

But he was asked what he thought their motivation was, he could have said that they are possessed by the devil or they just did it because they are evil and it was listed as the top ten evil things to do, but he didn`t he stated what he thought was going through their minds when they signed up to do this.

These are evil men, but they didn`t go out to do this because they were bored. They were driven by a misguided notion that what they do has a purpose and that it will change things . . . they are wrong, but we need to cure the disease and not the symptoms, so pretending these bombings are being done for no reason other than being the acts of bad people will not stop this from happening
