Its Summer, so time for another Sky Digital price rise...

Just read over at BBC news, and then at bskyb website that they are "re-organising" their packages and pricing structure.

They are phasing out the basic £13.50 package for new customers who will have to go on to a new £15 package. Those who are on Sky world (like me), will see a slight rise from £41 to £42.50.

You can read the official press release and see the price tables over at:

http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_files/LSE/BSY.UK/pricepackagePressreleaseFINAL.pdf

I do think the simplification of packages is a good idea, and the promise of downloadable content for "world" subscribers in the coming months is a welcome bonus, but I`m just a bit annoyed that they have changed the price again for the third time in about 18 months.

Letters will go out to subscribers in the next few weeks, with price hikes effective from September.

Telewest have upped prices too and they`re getting rid of free off-peak cable-to-cable calls.

I wouldn`t mind paying a bit extra each month if they added quality channels not the tosh the seem to add each month !!

What`s with all these interactive game channels that totally rip you off & try shoving unwanted garbage your way !

Sky needs to get some good entertainment channels like fox or something similar to go alongside Sky one !

Kill the c**p & give us our money`s worth !!

Why people pay good money to line the pockets of that slimeball Rupert Murdock is beyond me.
Nothing on Sky that can`t be got on DTT ie for free (or DVD) is worth watching anyway.

mmmm - I saw this price increase coming...

I too have the Sky World (£41) package, but might cancel both the movie channels. I haven`t been watching them that much lately - most films I really wanted to see, I saw at the cinema - and the others I can hire for £1 at my local library...

How? How what??
How do you get DTT for free?
You plug an aerial into your IDTV or digibox and switch it on.

My NTL has gone up a quid.

Im probably going to quit NTL and get sky soon. They are putting all the best channels in the basic pack now, so theres no incentive to be on the pack im on anymore (the one with all the channels except movies and sport).

In their wisdom, they figured that most people start on the base pack so to entice people to them they made the base pack more appealing. Failing to factor in the fact that people like me would so `so WTF is the point in paying an extra tenner a month just fo r the discovery channel`.

What im listening to (if youre interested)

SKY sports ?
You may not think it`s wrth watching but I think it`s worth every frigging penny.
I`ll give you an example.

The British Superbikes are on from Knockhill this weekend.
If I and my mate wanted to go to that we`d have to drive over 100 miles and pay around £25 each for a ticket to stand amongst thousands of other people and see only a fraction of the action.
SKY are showing the whole thing live.

Then there`s the football,the kids channels,the free movie channels,the likes of Battlestar Galactica,The 4400 etc.etc.etc.

I think it`s a frickin superb product and worth every bleedin penny.
It`s certainly a `must` in our house.
