You need a new Vehicle registration document, apparently.

Just caught the tail end of a DVLA ad on C4.

This takes interesting reading. Hurry up though, the old style docs are out of date in 2 weeks.

Nice of them to let us know.

We`ve got new ones of them, but I realised today that I coouldn`t read the date on the silly blue "MOT expiry date" sticker, so I got the MOT certificate off nemesis when I got home (only been driving the car a month or so and haven`t bothered to get all the docs off of him yet) and realised the MOT ran out on 3rd June! Gotta get it done ASAP and can`t drive to work tomoro, wot am I gonna do?

Very sneaky telling us on 15th June that it needs sorting out by 1st July, I wonder how big the fines for not getting it done on time will be!

I agree. The DVLC must have known about this for ages - yet they leave it until 2 weeks before the deadline to tell us.
It was a good job I was watching commercial TV this evening or I wouldn`t have known about this. I am sure there is going to be a lot of people who miss seeing these ads on the TV.

And why do we need to send a letter in with the old forms?? What do they want us to say..... here`s my old V5 can you change it please? !!

We received the new document ages ago (around the time the tax was due for renewal) without any warning or requests for it. :¦

I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

I`ve a feeling it`s actually renewing your tax that triggers the new certificate. We got one of ours about 6 months ago, and the other a couple of weeks ago which would tie in as I renewed the tax at the end of last month.

I got my new one last year as I moved then.

Theres also a new MOT certificate, its now a full A4 sized thing and it`s computerised and connected to a central database, apparently now the government knows everything about your car`s MOT its exhaust emissions, bald tyres, mileage etc.

Big Brother is definately watching you.
