The Single Life Changing Event In Your Life?
In light of the "Which part of history has shocked you the most?" thread, I thought what SINGLE event in your life changed it completely? Difficult, I know.
For me it was a visit to Dachau Concentration Camp with my partner. In an instant my life, and my view of life changed forever.

Hurtling towards (at a 50 degree angle from the road) a Bedford camper van Boxing day 1980.
Correcting my angle at the very last minute (loosing my wing mirror, directly above my hand in the process a VERY small price to pay) & riding along side it at 359 degrees.
Over compensating as I cleared it & coming down in the middle of the road & then got a feather nudge to my tyres from the car behind.
Laying in the middle of the road wondering when the traffic (that would be coming towards me) on a blind bend would come along & mush my head into the tarmac.
I am afraid thats a single life changing event in the space of one minute & in four parts.
On the plus side, which really puts into perspective (for me) as the result of the above, the birth of each of my kids, 3 life changing experiences over the space of 7 years.
I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

March 3rd this year. Woke up with a very fast pulse and phoned for a Doctor`s appointment. Within an hour I was in A&E having a chest x-ray. At least it wasn`t a heart problem, but it took nearly a month of tests to confirm it. :(

August 11th, 1995 - a diving accident on a French beach left me with a broken neck, completely paralysed, face down in the Med. and wondering if anyone was coming to get me out of the sea before I ran out of oxygen and died. I was rescued, died but `recovered` to carry on with my life.

Finding cannabis...............it helped me relax better, killed all thoughts of racism and stopped me stealing dvds/cds from shops. Made me realise all these things were really wrong. So, for me, it changed my life! For the better.

I had just started nursing in 1988 and was on my way to work when I witnessed a cardiac arrest. I stopped and gave CPR and brought him around, monitored the chap until another car came along so I could get them to phone for an ambulance.
Felt crap at the time as I was on my own and used to doing this in a team, but had a wonderful feeling of elation.
Visited the chap the next day in CCU and met his wife, children and several grand children which was a bit emotional. Still keep in touch with him.
That was one of many life changing events....
On a lighter note .. finding student nurses (female), the nurses home, chocolate spread and me were spending three years together mmmmmm pervy
