RE: CHEAP FOOD AND DRINK IN PRAGUE
We went there on Honeymoon in October, fabulous place to go.
Cannot really recommend anywhere specific as they are all nice. What I can say is avoid pizza, they are really bad over there, and make sure that you try Schnitzel!
There is one place that we really enjoyed, dont know the name, but to get there you go across the Charles Bridge away from Prague centre. Go past a load of shops till you get to what looks like a town square, then it is on the left (massive inside but small looking outside) Usually have some pretty waitresses standing outside. Really cheap in there (beer 45p a pint) food at really low prices. Not a lot to go on I know, but the food in that area is a lot cheaper and nicer than Wenceslas Square.

Food & Drink cheap in most places over there - went a few years back - you know its goin` to be cheap when you go on the prices for a Big Mac Meal - was about £1.40 then!
Again if you go over the Charles Bridge (away from the centre) along a cobbled street and into the Square (near the castle walls - steep slope) there is a fab meat eating place - outside it is a 6 foot bear with massive incisors grinning at you - proper meat mate - but be aware there are warnings that you might find lead shot in it! - A real man`s meal :D Cheap too - was about £6.00 for 3 courses with booze.

I heard the Mayor of Prague has decided tourists are being ripped off,so has decided to do something about the prices of drink/taxis etc.
Good man ! :D

I found this myself the last couple of years - the places where I went in the centres of Prague and Budapest are practically London prices - but if you take the trouble to walk half a mile out the centre and eat/drink where the locals go, prices are about two thirds cheaper.

I think that Badboybez and I are talking about the same place. :D
Bez, did you go inside? And if so, did it have two floors below and a massive back room? Yet from the outside looked no bigger than a pub?
Has loads of great meat dishes on the menu, and traditional dishes as well? About £8 for drinks and two meals.

Grab a phrase book before you go, it goes a long way with the locals if you try and speak a bit, its a hard tounge to grasp so most dont bother at all, but worth getting the basics if you can. A book will help as many staff even in the tourist places dont speak a word of english, more so the further from the center you go.
A beutiful city though a very walkable.
