Trailers - dont they just piss you off!!!

im getting sick to death of trailers at the cinema. they show way too much content from the film, so much so that nowadays you dont even need to see the movie. whilst at the cinema this weekend i saw a trailer for morgan freemans new film - Along came A Spider which ridiculously gave away the major plot twist of the film!!! i couldnt believe it!!! as i said it happens too often now (take What Lies Beneath for example) and mainly in comedies. three recent ones being Theres someything About Mary, Meet The Parents, and Me, Myself & Irene. i know companies have to try and woo us in the trailers but surely they can do it without revealing the entire film plot.....

immensely - my prime example being the Sixth Sense whose major plot twist could be worked out from the trailer... wrecked what could, otherwise, have been a cool film.

Dunno about anyone else but often I think the TVSpots are better - short, sweet and fascinatingly uninformative!

Here I go on a nostalgia trip again...

Time was once when trailers were an art form in themselves. They could take a really crap movie and make it look brilliant, or show you all the best bits out of a movie without blowing the entire plot (although honestly that`s never bothered me.)

Nowadays, they`re little more than MTV light-bites. What really gets me is when you get a teaser trailer and there`s nothing left of the material in the finished picture!

Dunno...

I`ve always loved trailers for some reason. I get what you mean, exactly, though.

The trailers I like most are the lewering ones... short, a flash of the film here and there. I`m trying to think of an example but I really can`t think just now.. lol.

ID4 trailer gave the whole film away too, really - well, to an extent I suppose, but the White House explosion was the best thing about the film.

And on that note - is the ID4 disc any good? I`m going to be sad and say that I prefer the R1 cover though lol

TT

The ID4 disc is actually over rated extra wise, it does give you an excellent print of the film with extended scenes, worth buying for that imho. But the extras are soooo dull.

I dont watch the trailers on the dvds i buy very often, and the ones I have seen are usually inferior picture quality to the movie on the disc anyway.

The worst one was the alleged `teaser trailer` for JP3 which they have on the JP1 and Lost World set. I mean what exactly was the point of that?? Oh sorry I know the answer actually, another marketing trick wasnt it ;-0)
