power shower problem

Issac Hunt (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 26th October 2004, 18:13

The water seems to be a bit on the cool side while the stuff coming out of the taps is scorchio. Could it be that some sort of setting is wrong and too much cold water is getting into the mix? Any solutions appreciated as I wanna try and avoid getting a man in to twiddle a knob and then charge me £50 (or whatever!) for the privilege.

My shower has a small screw that is hidden behind the shower controls. It lets you raise or lower the maximum temperature to prevent scalding. Could it be that?

Right, it`s a Bristan mixer shower with a separate pump (New Team I think) and has been in for just under two years (although this problem has been around for a while). It`s one of those smart-looking ones (!) that is like a horizontal metal bar with a temperature knob at one end and on/off knob at the other (it`s not a big plastic box on the wall type). The pipes from the shower go into the airing cupbooard where the pump is. And the shower curtain is white with purpley circles on! :)

I think that`s where the problem lies!

Yes, you`ll find that if you remove the shower curtain, the water will be the correct temperature. :D

Sound`s like a problem with the thermostat or you may have a massive difference in the water pressure (as you`ve already mention) ;)
