does anyone else think it is stupid that they are building another big (tall) building where the twin towers used to stand?i think this may be tempting for people to try and attack in the future. Also the name of the building is something about hope which may again cause people to attack it to try and get rid of the american peoples hope.if u know what i mean

Is that the one with the wire bit at the top (in this months FHM)? Yeah i think its stupid as well, personally I think they should have turned it into a memorial to the victims of 9/11 :(

You are right in what you say!!
Who would want to work in a building upon the same site as where the two towers stood, I know that a lot of people will state we should not give in and be defeated by what has happened, But I too think this will again be another target of the future as all the media eyes are always focused on the plot!
Leave ground zero as ground zero !
RE: new building at ground zero
I think this new building is different, it will have fast acting escape pods and lots of transporter rooms for a quick beam out in emergences.
...or am i thinking of the USS Enterprise :D
It will probably be the safest building in the world, now.
Land is at a premium in New York, like London, so it was inevitable they rebuilt another (safer?) tower on it. Hopefully it will have a memorial somewhere in it to this terrible massacre.
RE: new building at ground zero
According to a programme on the building of the Freedom Tower shown last week, the World Trade Center had only been leased a matter of a few weeks previously by Larry Silverstein, a property developer. As leaseholder of the real estate known as Ground Zero, he has the right to build on the site and intends to do so. He doesn`t have any legal requirement to build a monument to the people who died in the WTC attack.
The City of New York ran a competition for architects to put in designs for the renovation of Ground Zero, and the winner was avant-garde architect Daniel Liebeskind, who has previously designed a number of museums around the world. Liebeskind`s design was for a series of buildings sweeping up from the footprint of the twin towers culminating in the Freedom Tower, symbolically 1776ft high to tie in with the War of Independence (hence Freedom Tower).
Since winning the competition, Liebeskind has been told he will now only "inspire" the design which has been handed over by Silverstein to another firm of architects who have the brief to turn the Freedom Tower into 10 million square feet of office space otherwise Silverstein can`t pay the Port Authority (the landlords) the rent. Upshot - forget 1776ft tall, this baby`s going to be taller and instead of echoing the shape of the Statue of Liberty it`ll have an enormous cellphone mast integrated into the structure.
Maybe there might be a little 6"x4" plaque in the eighth level parking garage to the victims of Sept 11th. Just behind the trash cans. :(

RE: new building at ground zero
I think it`s bad that they can`t spare the space to leave the site alone. They said on the tv last night that a proportion (may have been 40%?) of grieving relatives never got anything back to bury. That site is effectively their graveside, and I think it`s awful that this is the last year they can grieve at the site, because it will be a giant office block. Shows that money is the most important thing, and forget people.
Of course they should rebuild it,they should build it taller and stronger to show the scum that brought it down that they achieved nothing, just a shame that the Spanish let the side down. :(
