Drivers using their mobile phones.....grr!
Is it just me or, now that the law says not to, is every bugger and his wife now drive using their phones?
I have just done a 4 mile journey and saw 8 (yes that`s eight!) people driving down the road/turning a corner/navigating a roundabout etc etc whilst happily chatting away on their mobile >:(
I always thought it was a bit dodgy to use one when driving anyway and so, for once, agreed with the new law - but it really doesn`t seem to have made any effect except for the opposite one.
Really gets on my knackers as you can probably tell - it amazes me how people wont spend a hundred quid to get a handsfree kit......I mean, they`ll wish they`d paid that out when they knock some poor person down `cause they weren`t paying full attention.
Rant over.

I think the new law has made some difference, but I tend to agree, there`s still a lot of idiots about. S`pose it`s the same with any law of this type i.e. difficult to police.

100 quid for a hands free! The cheapskates can`t even afford the bloody 10 quid ones!!
Spare a thought for us bikers - I hate it when riding past a car when the twat drivers talking and holding a mobile!

Another biker here, and get fed up with being pushed off the road by some twat on a mobile `phone. All they care about is there `phone call, not anyone`s lives at risk. For that they care not a hoot. That said, who is going to police this new law?

I will be honest and say I still use my mobile when driving - and am perfectly able to do so without veering off the road. Why would i spend £100 on a hands free (and the £10 ones are just as illegal as no handsfree) when if i get stopped i will cop a £30 fine? Even if i get stopped 3 times i will be better off......

Because it makes it easyer to eat your burger and read your map while driving.
I use a blue tooth headset that cost £45. Ok, I look a prick, but it realy is easyer to drive than if I am holding the phone.
All the best,
The 42%er.
It`s not easy being different. It`s not easy being cool....but somehow I manage....

But how are you able to be in full control of the vehicle if one hand is clasping a mobile phone ? In any case the whole question of the use of mobiles in cars is open to debate. It is said that even with a hands free set up, the very act of speaking/listening is distracting to a driver. That being so, where do you draw the line ? Do you ban the use of I.C.E. (for some of the racket I hear when out and about, that wouldn`t be a bad idea) ? Or do you isolate the driver in some way (black cab style) so he/she isn`t distracted by passengers ? It`s a very tricky subject.

It is a minefield, this `fully in control` thing.
We`ve already had a woman prosecuted for drinking water when sitting at some lights for god`s sake.
We`ll be forced to drive with both hands on the wheel at all times next,so manual cars will be banned,as will sneezing, picking your nose or scratching an itch.
There`ll be a huge market for dummy plastic hands.
