Just playing devil`s advocate here, but surely Caley knew the rules at the start of the season just gone ?

It`s that Catch 22 again. The same rules that say they are good enough for promotion also say they can`t be promoted cos of inadequate stadium. I understand they said no to ground sharing with Aberdeen as they weren`t prepared to pay £600 000 for the priviledge. I don`t suppose the SFA wants to be in this position but it`s a sad reflection on the Scottish game.

Yes I agree that the rules were clear to all at the start of last season but that is not the only issue the petition raises.

The petition has been drawn up to highlight the failings of the SPL and how they appear to care little for their fellow clubs .

sadly rules is rules....fair play to em, they refused the groundshare as Im sure the club would want to put the money into their own ground...but if yer ground isnt up to scratch...ya dont get in... :/

Agreed that rules are rules but TBH the criteria needed to reach the SPL have absolutely nothing to do with footballing ability or achievements .
The ideals and hopes of the SPL were, and still are, laudable but these very same ideals have led to criteria being laid down that only two clubs in Scotland could have met without them teetering on the brink of bankrupcy.

The sooner the SPL adopt sensible policies the better. After all the only club that would suffer for lack of seats would be ICT. They would not earn as much as they could have if they had a 10,000 capacity stadium but they and they alone would be the loser.

On the subject of the SPL, how do the game numbers work, last season there were 38 games played between 12 clubs, now surely if they play each other 4 times that would be 44 games. How do they come up with a odd number of games that the teams don`t seem to add up to? This is from an obviously ignorant englishman but it is a subject discussed at work that none of us can work out. :/

Number of games played looks odd because at some point towards the end of the season SPL splits into a top 6 group & a bottom 6 group & teams only play other teams in their own group for the latter part of the season......I think!

Choagy,

Given that Falkirk were denied promotion last season for the same " lack of capacity " rule, surely they would be entiltled to sue the SPL if Inverness are promoted past the same obstruction.
I really sympathise with Partick having spend £ 1,000,000 to play with the " big boys " and then seeing a team which has not spent the money being allowed to step up.
Seems to me the easy answer would be to promote Inverness and Clyde and make the SPL a 12 team league.

No doubt that`s far too simple :/
