Come back Bonnie Langford!!

Meet new companion Rose Tyler (Billie Piper), the Doctor`s companion in 2005.

Oh dear I can sense my optimism going the same way as when I heard Ms Langford had been drafted in. :(

Ohhh optimism levels increasing marginally, I hadnt considered that point.

No idea how bad a actress she is, whereas with BL we all knew what to expect.

Billie Piper was surprisingly good in the recent BBC "reimagining" of the Canterbury Tales so I am still holding out some hope for this.

Never mind Bonnie Langford! This casting decision has me worried that Rose will be spouting Aldred-esque `yoofspeak` that would make even a Grange Hill cast-member cringe with embarrassment. The moment she says "wicked", I`m reaching for the off switch.

For a moment there I read that as Adric-esque. :o

I`m going to trust Russell T Davies` judgement on this decision as I thought the casting of Christopher Eccleston was inspired and he obviously believes that Billie Piper is the right actress for the role of Rose Tyler. She was quite good in Canterbury Tales (not great) and apparently she was very good in that drama on BBC2 during the homeless season (Bella and the Boys). I just hope that ginger haired no mark Chris Evans does not get involved in the show now that his wife is in it.

Maybe if BL had a face lift, a la Anne Robinson, she might fit the bill but otherwise can`t see any fundamental flaws with BP. Remember, this is Dr Who not Brideshead Revisited.

Whenever I see Billie Piper, I can`t help but think of one of the Banana Splits (the one with the huge grin), like this... :D

I don`t know how to put the pictures on here for comparison, but I`m sure one of you clever chaps can do it...

Anyway, I`d still shag her (though what that says about my sexual tendencies towards the Banana Splits I dread to think..)
