Kenwood ICE question

dvd_vicar (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 8th February 2004, 11:46

I have a Kenwood -KDC3024G CD/Tuner unit in my car. It has stopped playing CDs and comes up with (what I take to be an error code) E4.

Anyone know what this means?

I`ve got a Kenwood CD/tuner and looking at the handbook which happens to cover your model, there is a code E-04 mentioned in the troubleshooting guide at the back of the book. It says :
"No disc has been loaded in the disc magazine
The CD is quite dirty
The CD is upside-down
The CD is scratched a lot"

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for the reply.

This happens with all discs I try. >:(
At least I know I`m on the right track now. :D (sorry)

P`rapse its the laser thats dirty not the discs? Having said that, I have tried a cleaning disc but only a pound shop jobbie.

I had a similar problem with my Toyota CD player & when I told the repair guy I had tried a cleaner was told they don`t advise using them in car stereos because the laser is closer to the disc.
eventually had to ditch the system & put my spare Blaupunkt in.

Gran.
