Poll: How long before pre-recorded VHS is dead?

Reading the story on the main page there, just wondering how long anyone thinks pre-recorded VHS has left?

It already is, isn`t it? If not, it`s very very poorly indeed.

I`d be surprised if many shops still stocked them by this time next year.

I reckon at most 2 years,

After the shock of unopened pre-recorded tapes going bad, I went back to check on some of my older blank tapes (10 years old some of them) and noticed just how bad the quality on them is and they`ve deteriorated without even being watched.

I`ll stick with my nice shiny discs until the next new thing!

VHS dead? That`s like saying 8 track is dead. Get real people, VHS will last a long time, unlike that evil twin brother Betamax.

Dunno about re-recorded, but we`ve just removed all our pre-recorded tapes apart from chart and key kids titles to make way for a much larger selection of DVDs (yay!). It`s great, and the amount of space saved is a godsend! I agree, this time next year and I`d be surprised to see much in the way of tapes.

We still have records dispite CD. We still have cassette dispite MD, CD-R. We still have Fosters dispite Stella.

VHS is like The Pope. Very ill and has been for some time but will hang on for a while yet (cue news of the Popes death)

All the best,
