Sounds like what you need is to flash the firmware with an older version, which I think may be possible by using a Sampo firmware at:

http://www.dvdschmiede.de/updatee.htm

This is different from a cold boot which erases just the current settings. You might want to check carefully on the net and see if someone else has done this, just in case the firmware isn`t compatible.

thanks for that i found some codes for the player that allow me to set the region, and a code to set the PAL/NTSC/MULTI, and that was from a guy who had an afreey 2060 but as i said i tried the sampo 560 hack and all i get is a hand on the screen saying stop.
one more thing any other good forums about to ask in ?

thanks again m8
P.S.
if you need the codes that i got let me know and the firmware version on the player is V3.00

hey bedlam,

im interested in buying this player.

Where did u get ure unit from and how much did it cost?
Also the model u bought was it an Encore Dv450, what Sampo dvd player is this a re-badge of and also where did u get the idea that it is possible a re-badge of an afreey 2020 or 2060?

Ive been told that this encore dv450 should be region free and with macrovision turned off (is this true)? Also does the unit output RGB scart and how do u rate the picture quality and the overall player, whats mp3 playback like?

Thanks.

i got the player ordered from a shop in Glasgow where I live, but the addy of the company that sells then is >>Laser UK Ltd Unit 3
Cowley Mill Trading Estate Longbridge Way Uxbridge Middlesex UB8 2YG.
hope there isn`t a prob posting this addy not sur eof the rules here ?

1st; cost £230
2nd; it`s an Encore DV450
3rd; it`s a rebadged Sampo DVe 560
4th; the reason i think the afreey 2060 is a rebadged Sampo DVe 560 is,
look at the pic on this site and go here and look at the pic of the Sampo DVe 506 http://www.dvdschmiede.de/ ( link kindly give to me by R.J.S he knows who he is :-)) and i have the hack for a afreey 2060 not the one on this site a diff one diff way of getting to the loophole,i got it at another forum and the guy was using an afreey 2060, but he has the same prob as I have the macrovision isn`t switched of as i can`t tape form the dvd player,

5th; the player is region free you can set it yourself if you want,
and you can change the PAL/NTSC/MULTI if you want but i had to use the afreey hack i got from the other guy I mentioned and it gets me to the loophole (if you need the hack let me know ),
6th; the pic quality is real good and if you go to the link i have posted it will give you all the tec details m8, not sure how good it is at mp3 files but plays music cd`s fine and everything else i have tried
the prob with this player is the firmware same as the afreey 2060, i.e. Sampo506 I have Version 3.0 and i can`t get into the menu to switch of the macrovision so R.J.S. on here was trying to help me out on this.
otherwise it`s a real good player m8.
I might just backward flash the eprom to an older version see if that works :-).

thx for the info bedlam

ure rite in that the sampo 560e = encore dv450 = afreey 2060

all the specs and looks of the machines match up exactly.

The problem uve got is that the firmware is too new and that they have removed the macrovision option.

My suggestion to u is to downgrade the firmware to 2.0A (this enables the option of macrovision). Ive then been told that if u disable the macrovision option it will REMAIN PERMANENTLY. You can then upgrade ure firmware to the latest version which is 3.3 for ure player. The latest firmware for the player is a good thing is it resolves the lip-sync issues encountered on many R1 movies.

Also if u disable macrovision on ver 2.0A and then upgrade to ver 3.3 u will still have macrovision disabled (although u will not be able to access it from ver 3.3 loophole menu (but it will be stored)). Consequently, u should have macrovision off as well as an improved firmware that removes lip sync and other problems associated with the encore dv450/sampo 560 players!!! Hope this helps.

Let me know what u do and how u get on.

C ya

Also let me know what the remote hack is for ure player with firmware 3.0 for the following:

- loophole menu for selecting region
- ability to change between pal/ntsc output

Thx
