Approaching ladies...

Kamion (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 6th September 2003, 23:11

Is it considered bad karma to go up to a girl and say hi on the street or on the train? I was just on a train an hour ago and there was a nice looking lady sitting in the next row. Now I wished I had enough guts to start speaking with her. :P Was afraid to be looked at as some wierdo and be ignored. Anybody have any advice/experiences to share with these type of situations?

It costs you nothing to say hello and smile. So what if they do think you`re a weirdo - if the recipient of your attention is bothered by your friendliness that`s their problem, not yours :)

Just think about it - if you`d never done it before, you`d have no school friends, no friendly colleagues, etc, etc. Social interaction is totally natural. Like our primate ancestors, we love living in packs.

Have courage - it often pays dividends - I`ve met some great people this way, and some remain friends today :D

It`s actually quite amazing trying this out on the Tube - the amount of people who look at you like you`re some kinda freak is highly amusing. By the same token, those who respond are often surprised, but quickly realise you`re not some kind of axe-wielding maniac, and soon warm to you.

Approaching ladies is absolutely no different - as I say, the problem is with them, not you.

It`s all in the eyes mate

look deep into her eyes and give a little smile if she responds by shaking her tic tacs at you then your laughing if she growls frowns or tells you to **** off then it might be better to look elsewhere.

Worse thing was we made a few eye contacts on the train... But I couldn`t read her face... She wasn`t smiling... Nor was she frowning... ?!? Ah well, I shall remember clayts words next time... Thanks...

Or after makin eye contact a few times, throw two fingers up at her in a jokey style, yes AT her, (jus making sure before we get any smutty replies...you know they`re coming anyway), and if she smiles/laughes, then you know you`re in with a chance

Better still, make eye contact, then cross them. If she laughs, green light. If she crosses hers, ditto. Important thing is contact is made.

just don`t use my mate`s line:

Quote:
Hi, I don`t come over and speak to girls very often

He would have been as well saying

Quote:
Hi, my name is Fred West

Needless to say he didn`t get anywhere

Just say " There`s something about you I like, but I can`t put my finger on it"

It seems that this thread has turned into an excuse for everyone to parade their worn out chat up lines, but little advise.

As said earlier just go and start a conversation, if you recieve a frosty reception it may only mean that she is a commuter and a little persiverance is called for.
