getting stung by customs?

clunesy (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 24th January 2001, 11:05

I have successfully bought many times from www.dvdboxoffice.com
but was thinking of trying out some other canadian suppliers.

Anyone got any horror stories about who to avoid? Have you been stung for import duty?

OY! Have I got bad breath or something?

Bring it on guys.

Most suppliers are customs friendly - but I want to hear about the stitch-ups.

please :)

my brother and my friend have both ordered off www.dvdexpress.com and both been stung by customs. they both got charged around 15 pounds for importing 1 disc. apparently www.dvdboxoffice.com are better as they package the discs in `customs-friendly` parcels so you dont get collered.

Actually if you look at the postage on the jiffy`s they are posted in THIS country. From what I can remember they bulk post orders to Ireland then ship them through Royal Mail.
