Thunderbird wine?

Ascomdog (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 12th August 2003, 11:14

I have been trying to find someone who stocks Thunderbird wine. I haven`t seen this stuff for a few years, and wondered if anybody knows if it`s still produced? I can`t remember who made it...apart from the company was American.

Anyone know of it?

I think you have to be under 18 to buy this and you`ll find it in any grocers/off licence/newsagents that sells single cigarettes out of the packet.

At least that was my experience 15years ago!

Have a good time down the park (that`s the only place you`re allowed to drink it isn`t it?)

:) :) :)

all of a sudden I am 16 years old geting drunk in the park with me mates and a bottle of red Thunderbirds. And the year is 1989, naff hair cuts, crap dress sence...... we better swiftly move on to 2003.

You dont think the Thunderbirds was to blame do you?

PS last time i had any it came from Threshers offlicence

It shows two things though...

1) We`re both right.
2) Errr....that.....erm....oh yeah, that all 16 year olds do the same things throughout the generations (I think this is proven by the distinct lack of "house-parties" these days - and I don`t mean the music genre...wasn`t there always a party somewhere at the weekends).

we used to make a thunderbird/MD 20 20 cocktail - strawberry MD2020 was the drink of choice! SO good we wrote a song called Strawberry Sex all about it.

Thunderbird was certainly a very cost-efficient way of getting drunk when I was a student in the late `80`s. It`s also immortalised in the song "Sweet Gene Vincent" by Ian Dury (on the excellent New Boots & Panties album).

I haven`t seen it for yonks, and suspect if I had some today I`d think it was bleedin` `orrible!!

Aaaahhh, the old Mad Dog 20/20 & Thunderbird concoction...we spent many a weekend `roughing it` and drinking till we puked...it made us grown up, y`know!

That`s the reason why I`ve been after some...as a kind of `blast from the past` for one of my old cohorts!

What about the old MD20/20 K cider concoction :/
I think I am about to pass out just thinking about it.

For a modern twist get a pint of Stella drink half then add to the consternaition of O`Neils staff a bottle of Smirnoff Ice. Repeat several times and make a twat of yourself on the dance floor. Feel very ill the next day at work. Apparently it`s called a Turbo Shandy....So I hear ;)

All the best,

For yet another modern twist, try a cheeky vimto. Shot of port in a pint glass and then top it off with a bottle of blue wkd. Tastes just like vimto, honestly it does, but it also gets you monkey drunk very quickly.

I find the hangovers after drinkin turbo shandies are just too much!
