Royksopp - Melody A.M.

Came out summer 2002 I believe.

Got this album the other day on the strength of getting the `Eple` single in my head. Well impressed, probably the best album I`ve listened to this year. Very nice mellow ambient s***. Anyone else got/heard this, what did you reckon?

I too bought it after hearing Eple and the mobile ad.

I listened to it once.

It is rubbish.

Air do this much better. Also the 2 feature tracks are huge rip offs off other tracks. Just a sample with a couple of other bits bolted on - not as creative as they may at first seem.

It came out January/February 2002 and then was promoted more after the advert was first shown.

People should really get off their arses and go and discover these bands for themselves instead of being told what to listen to by TV adverts and radio stations.

It was the same with the Dandy Warhols, been around for years suddenly because of that advert, everyone was raving about them.

indeed - last junkie on earth is by far their best track, although the new stuff does sound pretty bloody good.

Interesting view there. I bought this album on the strength of seeing the Eple video a couple of time and quite liking the tune. I didn`t ever notice any of the music in any adverts but should I hear something I like in an advert from now on I can assure you I`ll refrain from finding what it is and `discovering` in that way, after all, we`ve all got the spare time to go and `discover` these bands in the correct way haven`t we.

If you heard the track on MTV then, although they have a playlist, you have chosen to watch and thus discovered the band yourself.

What I object to is people like Jo Whiley, jumping on the band wagon and telling you, you should go out and buy it because at the moment it is cool, even though they have more or less ignored them over the past years. It was the same with Eminem. The first album came out, very little publicity. Second album comes out, suddenly he his the best thing ever to produce music. I`m sorry but if he is that good then why wasn`t you raving about him after the first album, or even before he made an album.

I agree the majority of the time you need something or someone to bring a band to your attention, be that MTV or radio or Q, but I just object to a band becoming popular because someone put it on an advert or played to death on radio.

Problem though with that is how do you know you`ll like something if you haven`t heard anything about them??? Aha!

And yep I do quite like the album even if it has been pilfered so much for the Orange adverts etc! :)

Got it last year and loved it. I had actually had the first track stuck in my head since it was used on a trailer for some TV programme about Atlantis. Very relaxing, chilled out music.
