Your Favourite Author

Mine is Michael Connelly. He writes crime fiction novels that mostly involve an LA cop, Harry Bosch. He writes characters and events so well that you actually feel you are living the lifestyle of the main character. His attention to detail is great and his plots move at a great pace. I highly recommend Connelly as I have read all of his books and love them all. I have just finished reading his latest called "lost light" and it was a cracking novel. My favourite is probably one called "The Poet". As good as the books are, they didnt transfer well to the screen last year when Clint Eastwood starred in and directed Blood Work. I havent actually seen the movie yet but the book was brilliant.

Anyway basically, since I have read everything Connelly has to offer so far, I am looking for other great authors/books from this genre to read in the summer. All help appreciated.

I`m torn between Robert Rankin and Terry Pratchet. All of the first author`s novels I`ve read have been A1, where as nearly all of the latters have been.

Elmore Leonard.

I`ll have to check out Michael Connelly at some point.

Most of Elmore`s characters are from and based in and around Florida. Lots of cops, bent cops, thieves...think of the adaptations of Out of Sight and Get Shorty and multiply it ten fold and you get the idea. The books are, for me, brilliant. Some books are longer than others.

Swag and Pronto are good ones to get into.
