Mission Impossible II - "Dolby Digital" or "Dolby Surround" for Pro-Logic playback?
From the Mission Impossible II `languages` menu, I can select "Dolby Digital" (I think) or "Dolby Surround" for the audio set up.
Which should I choose for the best sound from my Pro-Logic TV? Would it make any difference?
Heather.
I`m guessing that you haven`t got a Dolby Digital decoder?
In that case I would go for the Pro-Logic setup, since Dolby Digital will only be transfered through a digital connection (either optical or coaxial), or a 5.1 connection (when your DVD player has a built in Dolby Digital decoder).
But either way, it`s easy enough to listen for it yourself.
Just try the two and see (or better listen) what you prefer.

RE: Mission Impossible II -
Thanks for the reply - no, I don`t have a separate decoder (or one built into the DVD player), only the Pro-Logic built into my TV.
I`ll have a listen and see what sounds best, but I was just wondering, for future reference, which sound output I should choose if I`m given the choice - Dolby Digitial 5.1 or Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround?
I don`t really understand how Pro-Logic surround works; I believe that somehow information is encoded in the standard stereo channels - is this correct?
If you have a Pro Logic sound system, its always best to choose the Dolby Surround track over 5.1 Dolby Digital, since as all players can downmix from 5.1 to Pro Logic, it doesn`t sound anywhere near as good as one specially mixed for it in the first place.
