Because butter is heavier than air!

It`s a scientific fact!

So in theory if i butter both sides the toast should land upright !
Problem solved ?

Murphy`s Law states that if a piece of toast, buttered on one side, falls on to a carpet then the chance of the buttered side landing on the carpet is directly proportional to the value of the carpet - i.e. the more expensive the carpet, the greater the chance of the buttered side landing on it. I recommend some experiments to prove or disprove this theory... any volunteers?

as cats always land on their feet, why not stick one to the buttered side of your toast just in case?

If you stuck a a slice of buttered bread to the back a cat the bread would be trying to land butter side down and the cat would be trying to land on its feet so they wouldnt fall they would just start hovering and then start spinning around faster and faster.

Forget all these stupid suggestions, and tie a bungee cord to your item of toast whilst you are preparing it. This will not only prevent it reaching the floor in the first place but also allow its quick and easy return without you having to bend down.

The cat would start spinning around faster and faster until it eventually reached the speed of light and would then gain infinate mass which would bend space-time around it allowing it to travel to any point in space and possibly time instantaneously
A bit like the gravity drive in Event horizon only with a cat with a piece of buttered bread stuck to its back instead of a black hole

You could just have an egg for breakfast and you wouldn`t have to worry.

or

Drop the toast before you butter it.
