Does anyone know where in the Uk i can buy a portable waterproof radio which i can wear whilst swimming. I believe speedo do one but i don,t know where i can get this in the uk. Any help gratefully received
I won`t ask why, but the only company`s that would produce one is Sony or Philips.
Try there dealers.

I want one because i am trying to keep fit aand the only sport i half enjoy is swimming--and even then i am bored swimming up and down a pool for half an hour---having a radio would make this tolerable!
Why not order direct from the website ;-))
Link to the surf runner radio page below:

Also don`t want to put a "damper" on things but the speedo radio doesn`t have such a good write-up

Try http://www.nomadworld.com/accessories/jb-aquapc/ That seems to be the closest to what you may be after, although they state clearly it is not really waterproof but can be used safely around pools etc.
Other than that the only thing I could think about trying would be one of those re-sealable bags, the type that have the recess/rib style sealing.
Prior to sealing a cheap cd/radio radio inside the bag connect the earphone cable and place a small about of vaseline/ petroleum jelly/ silicon sealant around the cable at the point where the seal is broken by the cable. If possible use a single cheap earpiece to try it out. I am not very sure about the earphones but providing you were restricting your swimming to gentle swimming that might work unless you aim to dive or swim underwater for any time. Also if you do try this try to ensure the sealed end of the bag is facing down, might make it more difficult for water to get in.
I realise it is not exactly the same but when I go out for a 25 mile cycle I have been caught out by very heavy rain and the earphones still worked even although the rain was running out of the crack in my a*se. :-)

Choagy :-)
Choagy,
Why did you have the earphones in the shucks of your a*se ? ;-)
Your Idea is rock solid but definitely best with the silicon seal, if you used one of those shower radios inside a mobile phone waterproof bag, I reckon it would be fine.
IMHO of course. P
