I`m sure £600 wouldnt buy you a submarine would it? How cheap are the russian navy selling them for nowaday?

I would be getting a rebate if the taxman could get off his fat arse.
They have been investigating my case for almost a year now.....

It may sound a stupid question but stupid is as stupid does!
How do you go about getting a rebate?

I`ve been working full time for 8 years and never had one.

I got one cos I am a full time student but my one year work placement fell between two tax years. This meant even though I had not worked one full tax year I had still been paying the full amount of tax on my earnings. I had to send in my P45 and P60 and declare that I would not be working for the next six months (which I wont be cos I am in my final year). They then calcuate what I have paid and what I should have paid and I get two cheques for the difference, one for tax year 2001/2002 and one for 2002/2003.

Best thing to do is get in touch with your local tax office, they are usually very helpful and help you get money back that they owe you.

If you work for a bigger company or one with a good payroll department you may have had your tax code adjusted in certain years so you pay less that year to balance it out, or you may have had rebates in your monthly wage and not noticed them
