Didn`t expect that...grew up listening to Clash etc! Didn`t realise he had any health problems!

May he Rest In Peace, a true punk.

Damn, was in Virgin when i head this yesterday, to say it was a shock is something of an understatement, it came really out of left field. Just when there was hope of a Clash re-union (after Strummer and Mick Jones appeared on stage together in november) in a not so cash hungry way as the Pistols one. Their self-titled debut album changed my life forever.....
Unfortunately I never got to see them, but the live stuff in Rude Boy is the best live footage ever: One camera on the side of the stage, that`s it, no cuts, edits or any flashy nonesense.
During the Steelworkers strike in the early 80`s, Joe and the boys donated their white cadilac ( featured in one of their vids, but can`t recall which at the mo) to be raffled off to help the steelworkers families. London Calling - one of THE best tracks and infact one of THE best albums of all time. R.I.P.
I must admit I am not a great listener of the clash, but no doubt they were a great influence to the bands I listen to today (or when I was a teenager way back in the early-mid 90s e.g. Green day etc).
Did you know that Martin Scorsese originally planned to cast The Clash. When he wanted to make Gangs of New York in 1978. But when he didn`t make it, he casted them in King of Comedy, as a band called Street Scum?

p.s. Over at Aint it cool news, Joe doesn`t even get a sniff of a mention, and when somebody does, strangly harry deletes the messages. Quite a few people complained about the deletion and those messages have been deleted. Harry is a grade A tosser.
p.p.s
Long live punk.
