ok its served me well over the last three months but now its time to upgrade.

As i`m not brand loyal i`m looking for suggestions but it must do the following;

excellent picture and sound quality (obviously)
manual and or auto region selection
play mp3
vcd
svcd
cdr & or cdrw
be as cheap as possible

also if anyone can recomend a supplier i.e techtronic or multi region magic etc or more to the point who to avoid i would appreciate it.

cheers

shaun

BTW to all who know me sorry i aint been around but i`ve been busy organising my wedding which to place on the 9th december ( not one dvd as a wedding present the bastards )

Aren`t u satisfied with your Thos then?

Ah well if u are looking then Aiwa XD-DV370 seems like the one u need (except for the SVCD part).

U can also go for the Samsung 611 (and up) but I`m still a little doubtfull about their playing capabilities.

Otherwise if u scratch the MP3 of your list, then there are other good ones on the market.
Like the Pioneer 535 for example...

For more info on the Aiwa look at this link:

The Tosh rocks!!!!

Just not enough to play mp3 or cdr ..i would go for the 200 but i`m also doubtful of having an auto only region hack.

also the tosh is subseptable to the layer change pause..it happens on most discs for about a second at some point. does this happen on the Aiwa?

BTW when i said cheap i meant as cheap as possible but not necassarily budget..... up to £350.00 would be ok.

I`m inclined to suggest that if you want a good quality DVD player then buy DVD player, if you want a good quality CD player then buy a CD player ... good quality MP3 player buy a MP3 player!

A wise man once said:

`Jack of all trades, master of none.`

I think this will probably apply here! The choice is yours.

Anybody else got any thoughts on this?

I agree, the more things you ask the player to do ( or amp ) the more of a compromise you have to make, dedicated equipment is always the best way to if you can afford it.

To date the answer is no, the Aiwa doesn`t even NOTICE layer changes, even on my "bad" discs.

And for those posting "get seperate players", the Aiwa has a 24 bit 96kHz d/a converter, and even makes my TELLY sound like a good hifi!!

I`m scared to run it through my Kenwood....I might end up blowing myself away with the sound quality!!

your turn Lievn!

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!
