I work for the Foreign Office and just got called into my bosses office who has told me I am moving to another office for 6 months to 3 YEARS!!

....to NEW YORK!!!!!

I was told I don`t have to go, but if I do, I am going on WEDNESDAY!!!!

This is insane! One minute I am messing around on the forums, planning my weekend early, then to be told if l want to represent UK interests in the states! I was chosen as someone else changed their mind on Monday

For once, l am completely lost for words!!!

Oh, can I let them know by Friday what I want to do!

Please don`t tell me you`re uhhming and aahring about it - GO!! NYC is an amazing place, and given the choice I`d leave London like a shot to be there.

My head hurts. I not allowed speak to anyone about it. I can`t use the phone because its open plan office so everyone hears everything!

They REALLY want me to go. It was Mafia-like pressure.

It is short noticed. It is something you have to think about long and hard about, but it is a chance of a lifetime, and these things only come around once.

You may choose not to go and spend the rest of your life wondering `what if`. If you do choose to go and it`s not what you hoped then at least you gave it a go and put it down to experience. On the other hand you may never look back, once you take the step.

If you`ve got no ties (tempted to do some sort of shirt joke...must resist) then you`ve nothing to lose.

Whatever you choose to do mate, I wish you good luck...you`ll know deep down what you really want...don`t let someone else decide for you (although it is rather short notice I agree).

P.S. I had the best nachos ever tasted (in New York)...there`s an incentive, also had to pay a vagrant a few dollars for his assistance in directing me to the bus station (I wasn`t scared, I wasn`t scared...ahem!)
