LOTR Audio Levels

s1eve (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 13th August 2002, 17:57

Just bought a copy of LOTR and noticed the average audio level for 5.1 is quite low - basically had to turn up the amp to get decent levels. even worse when playing the movie back through a standard player-to-tv- setup where i ended up getting white noise from having turned the tv volume right up.

anyone experience the above?

regards

steve

Can`t say I`ve had that problem, sure it`s not your dvd player?

I`ve got a samsung 709 (Retro!!) going thru a Cambridge soundworks DTT3500 and we never noticed anything.

(Apart from the film was dull and uninteresting)

The only thing I noticed is the talking is "low" compared to the action scenes, when it blows your ears off!

I messed around with my centre channel`s level to get the talking about right, in some places it can be quite low compared to the rest of the audio.

Now that you mention it it did seem a little quiet, I had my amp cranked right up!( I was sloshed at the time mind!)
