Can the 750 play MP3 tracks?
Can it also play CD-RWs?

for MP3s...

the 750? no.

the 750S, yes.

as for CD-R and CD-RW I can`t see the use except for Audio and MP3 disks.

Any CD player can read CD-R (if it`s any good), but quite a few won`t read CD-RW disks.

It can read CDR`s and CDRW, allowing you to do CD `backups` and play VCD/SVCD`s.

Don`t know about the 750s though.

I think you will find this is the other way around! I have friends who have a Panasonic/Toshiba and both will not play CD-R but will play RW.

I think it has something to do with the fact RW`s are allot closer reflectively that CD-R`s

My Mico plays both!

Actually...a CD player that can`t read a finalised audio CDR has a weak laser.
It`s VERY unusual to hear of a CD player reading CDRW but not CDR, as the reflectivity of a CDRW is lower.

However, on a DVD player, a "twin wave" laser or "dual laser pickup" is required to see a CDR/CDRW.

However..as we all know, my player just loves these discs and plays them happily all night long...:o)
And it does enjoy the odd MP3 disc too....

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!!

RE: Wharfedale 750, MP3s and CD-RWs ??? UPGRADE 750 ???

BennyBoy (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 5th December 2000, 02:23

(Wishful thinking) Does anyone know if it`s possible to upgrade a 750 to a 750s ?

For all you 750 users DON`T go to http://www.tesco.com or else you`re in for a "not so nice" surprise.

I`ve just seen the 750s there for £179.99, (same £ as its predecessor 750)
That just p*sses me off because that`s what I paid for my 750 and now the 750s is going for the same price and in stock!!!

PHOOEY !!!! If I can`t upgrade, I`m going to have to get another one.

With tesco, as long as you have the reciept you should be able to just return it to tesco stores, just say the motor is too noisy !
then go online and order another.

No problem

Eklipze,

Wish I could. I`ve had my player (even though it has done me a good turn) since Sept 2000, and tried this out with Tesco`s but they will only exchange it for another 750 and not a 750s (B*stardss!!!!).

Were you successful in doing this? If so I`d be interested to know how you got on. Thanks for the advice all the same.

With Christmas down the road I have found a few prospective buyers.
