Page 1 of Console advice needed...!

Have at last decided to upgrade from my old Playstation and N64 to something newer and better! But which should I go for PS2, Gamecube or X-box???? Bit confused on that one.

I don`t have oodles of time to play loads of games to loads of depth. What I want is good multi-player games like footie and racing/rally games that are easy to pick up and get in to.

As a guide my fave games on the old consoles were:
GoldenEye, Diddy Kong Racing, Colin McRae, Quake, Fifa 2000, ISS Pro, Circuit Breakers and MicroMachines. So the console I buy must have good games of this genre.

Any advice would be most welcome!

Well i have all three, but itall depends what you like you mention rally games and goldeneye, so gor these Xbox is great for Halo and Ralli sport challenge. But in my opinion, there isnt really enough good games for it yet, and is still the most expensive. PS2 has a large amount of titles with some great games such as metal gear solid, Grand theft auto and Gran Turismo, and is a better looking machine, and much cheaper. And Gamecube, has good footie games like iss and fifa although the others have fifa too, Star wars is great,and will soon have perfect dark 2 wihc will fullfill your goldeneye desires. The gamecube is the best if you want to just pick up and play for half an hour. Id probably say go for that but read the games reviews and see for yourself

Thanks Geezer1 - you`re right, sounds like I can count X-box out of the running.... and Gamecube sounds like it would be a good bet for me. Is the ISS on Gamecube as good as it`s meant to be on PS2?

Dont have iss myself but have played it and it is good, im not saying the xbox isnt good but there just isnt enough for it yet, but there isnt for the gamecube either. The gamecube just feels more playable.

Trust me mate, Xbox is decent. GameCube may appeal due to its lower price tag, but it is lower for a reason. I bought an Xbox after resisiting the temptation of Ninty`s machine, and it is definitely worth it for Halo alone. And with the games coming soon, Microsoft will defy the cynics. Hopefully.

Like what coming soon? yes halo is good but perfect dark 2 will also be good, xbox definatley isnt worth buying just for halo its good but not that good. I have one too but havent used it once since i got my Cube

If one more person says "An X-Box is worth it for Halo alone" then I think I will loose all faith in humanity! If someone buys a machine for ONE GAME then they are the biggest fool on the planet! Halo is good but its hardly the greatest thing in the world. Halo is not your God. He is the Devil!

I have a GC and an X-Box. I play on my N64 more still tho lol.

Get an Xbox. I played Halo and wasnt too impressed, but hey, it has Champ manager on it, which is reason enough to buy the Gates machine alone, if you don`t already have a pc. Trust me, if you have this game, you will not need any other! Or food, drink, daylight, washing, human companionship etc. It`s life destroying, but so worth it!
