RE: Steam console revealed at CES
Can`t read the article from here (work)...but I can`t believe they would even consider pricing it at that level.
RE: Steam console revealed at CES
Don`t think that`s the Steam Box or they would be referring to it as such, think the only link is that Valve were involved. Pretty sure Valve know that to be competitive that they need to price it lower than consoles.

As it turns out, the Piston is just one living room PC device that Valve is backing -- and Valve also has its own devices in the works, known internally as "Bigfoot" -- or as "Steam Box" to the outside world -- and "Littlefoot," a mobile device
Said Newell, "let`s build a thing that’s quiet and focuses on high performance, and quiet, and appropriate form factors.".The salient fact is this: "We`ll come out with our own and we`ll sell it to consumers by ourselves," he adds. "That`ll be a Linux box, [and] if you want to install Windows you can. We`re not going to make it hard. This is not some locked box by any stretch of the imagination."

A steam console could be awesome, Just think console fans could play against PC fans at last in a round about way.

Not really sure who that is aimed at. It`s no good for gamers and won`t tempt any consolers to leave their boxes behind.

For the spec it looks ludicrously overpriced. Reminds me of... oh yes the recent Commodore PCs.
