there`s a couple of standard bundles most places are doing which are quite good value, but as they`re proper bundles prices don`t vary too much.
play, amazon, game
Sony PlayStation 3 PS3 Slim Console with 250GB HDD + Assassin`s Creed II (2)
£270
Sony PlayStation 3 PS3 Slim Console with 250GB HDD + X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Blu-ray) + Batman: The Dark Knight (Blu-ray) + Blu-ray Remote Control
£270
PS3 Slim 250GB Uncharted 2
£285
Sony PlayStation 3 PS3 Slim Console with 250GB HDD on its own is about £270
I`ve been looking recently as well, should have got one the other week when Sainsburys was doing 20% off consoles :(

If you can pick up a 120GB for any cheaper then I`d do that.
The hard drive is really really easy to change, and you do not invalidate your warranty by doing so. Therefore, if you felt you really needed a bigger drive then you could easily get one and change it.
For info:
A 320GB drive is around £38, a 500GB drive is £54. (Based on Ebuyer`s current prices).
Yep I have a 500GB one in mine!
Best time to put it in is when u buy it new or it takes a few hrs to put the stuff u have back onto the new drive so I found out :D
cheers guys.. really usefull. id not seen any cheaper deals either...
in terms of updating hard drive, my ps3 is only 60gb and full up... what HD should i buy that will work with PS3
A 2.5" SATA drive is what you need.
This 320GB one would be fine:

Or the 500GB version:

eg on 80GB model upgrades you need a copy of the firmware on a stick whereas on other (even 40GB?) it`s on flash I THINK!..
(mine`s a 500GB`er too... :D ) Make sure it`s 9.5mm high - and no need to get a 7200rpm drive..5400 is fine.

On my (previous) PS3 (which was the original 60GB version)...I simply backup up the old hard drive, pulled out the 60GB drive, put the new one in and then restored from the backup.
So it was a doddle in my opinion (except for the tiny screws...they were tricky ;))
......yeah, but on the 80GB one you can`t do that. You also need the firmware.... (40 may be the same as the 60)
