Page 1 of PS3.... The 3 Beeps Of Death ? or am i just unlucky :(

Well, less than a week after i sold my 360, my ps3 seems to have died, every time i switch it on it just beeps 3 times then shuts down... any idea`s ?

am i lucky or what :(

Give Sony a call mate. Their customer services were pretty good when I called them at Xmas time (BluRay drive stopped recognising discs). The console was 18 months old when I called them and they fixed it for free.

First try the complete reboot.
Stanby it then hard power off the switch, remove the plug from mains, remove the HDMI cable and wait a wee bit as normal, reverse and try again.

Then it`s Sony CS, and GL

managed to do 2 hard resets, & the one that makes the fans run full blast for about 30 seconds, still no joy, tho i did manage to get the game disc out..

I hope it is in warranty (1 year) otherwise it`s £145 to fix. They stopped doing the free out of warranty replacements a few months ago.
Other options are take it back to where you bought it and quote the sale of goods act or DON`T ring Sony yet but sign up for contiuous play (£5 a month IIRC) and wait a few weeks and get them to fix it for free. Once you`ve rung and told them it`s knackered you won`t be able to get the continuous play cover obviously.

Unfortunately I didn`t buy it new, & although it`s in pristine condition I dunno how old it is:(

I have just been through this whole process with sony after my ps3 shat itself 2 weeks outside warranty. I researched other peoples experiences with customer service and when i rang them i told them that my ps3 was still inside the 12 months warranty but that i had no receipt and the store wouldnt change it. I also sais that the issue arose after i applied the last ps3 update.

They sent out a replacement the following day, no hassles.

Repeat the above and you will have a working ps3 this week
