Page 1 of So what`s PES 2008 like on the 360?

Just thought I`d ask as I`m semi-interested in getting it. Reviews have been good, but apparently online play is lagged to hell, and I really don`t know if I can be arsed with the editing of teams etc.

I know some of you have bought it - so what`s the verdict so far?

Im of the same opinion. I played the demo and it was good but I am still enjoying FIFA so not sure I wanna spend £40 on another football game.

BTW Gamestation are running a deal which says that PES 2008 is "half price when bought with any new game". If you buy 2 PES then technically you should get them both for £20, I reckon the second one could go for £30 on ebay.

Haven`t really played it that much to say a lot about it, but there will hopefully be a patch released this week to sort out the lag. There was last year and apparently it`s even worse for the PS3 at the moment :/

Gameplay wise it`s quite a change from last year. It`s more like Fifa or Pro Evo 6 for the PS2, as in it plays a lot faster compared to last year.

If you have Xsata you can get an option file, but you have to change something on the option file when you load it on (eg one name, hairstyle etc) and then the option file will become "yours" which will stop you getting any Xbox live bans or anything. I haven`t done it myself yet as I don`t have one (and want to see if anyone else gets caned on it ;) )

Haven`t played Fifa 08 so can`t give any sort of comparison with that.

Its f-in s*** as I cant get a live game for love or money and when I do it disconnects before I get to kick a ball!!!!!!

Think I might try and send it back to play as there takin the p*** with this

Really? I can`t "find a match" but if I create a room I`ve been getting games no problem. There`s not stupid amounts of lag either, just the occasional stutter.

I haven`t ventured online yet as I`m waiting for the patch to sort out the lag.

Offline it`s pro evo, what more can I say. It`s different enough from the last version that you need to learn everything again but gameplay looks to be up to the usual standard. presentation is better, in game replays are a nightmare for stuttering (make me seasick)but overall I`m enjoying it so far.

Judging by other threads on this subject the general opinion is that FIFA vs PES is much closer this year and that it will be personal preference as to which you go with. FIFA is being considered much better online but PES plays a better game of football offline.

As I only have time/money for one I plumped for PES and will use the time before the patch to brush up on my game before taking it online.

I seem to recall the need for practice was pretty equal - we both seemed unable to score at times ;)

Mind you that is one thing that appears easier with this version - you don`t seem to sky it so often hitting the one Albion fan who`s so embarrassed to be there he`s standing in row Z

Count me in for a game later if you see me online.
