Rock Band - potentially the greatest game ever

Check out how awesome Rock Band looks:

Look at the drum kit! Apparently, if you can play the drums on expert level in this, you are good enough to play in a band. Well I can play the drums already, so I`ll be curious to see how much that rings true.

Here it is in action:

Plus its got s*** loads of awesome songs, which Guitar Hero hasn`t. This is going to be the best game ever! Wooooooo!

As you can tell, I`m very excited.

gamespot had some good footage from the recent Penny Arcade Expo, where they interviewed the developers, and showed them using the drum kit. They said there that you can use normal drumsticks with it, did look a lot of fun.

If I was still a student it would be so money.

As it stands, I have enough `real life` friends who are into gaming, that come round to my house often enough for this to be the biggest waste of money in the known universe.

Its just going to be so expensive for a game that I would never fully appreciate. Looks great, though. Oh and, apparently, the peripherals are going to be sold separately on the 360 due to the cost of licensing their wireless technology, meaning a bundle would be heart attack indicing in cost.

Im still going to keep on rockin with Guitar Hero.

Agreed Ben it does look great, the song list is a million times better than guitar hero 3. Was gonna get em both but think I`ll just wait for Rock Band instead now and buy it just with the drums and use my GH2 guitar on it

Will Guitar Hero controllers work with Rock Band then? I guess they should do, in theory, being that it`s the same guys making Rock Band (Guitar Hero 3 is being made by Neversoft instead).

Think I may stick Guitar Hero 3 on my `Xmas list`, because it doesn`t look like Rock Band will get a UK release til early 2008. Also, the bundle is expected to be around $199.99, so if they bundle it here too, I reckon its going to cost in the region of £125+.

The GH guitars will `work` but the rock band ones have got more buttons at the bottom of the fretboard for some kind of solo mode.

To be honest, theres a lot of cross pollination between the two. For me GH3 just edges it, but there isnt a lot in it. I would have like Black Hole Sun, but Suck my Kiss rather than the Uber-S***ty Dani California, Number of The Beast and My Name is Jonas just edge it.

Plus you get to play as slash.

* "That`s just disgustingly shameful, in all respects."
* "What a joke. Months late and double the price. No sale."

If you`re interested in this at all, importing is the only way to go. If you can wait until December with the new customs threshold, it`d be madness not to.

I just want it to rock out to Welcome Home, even if it`ll probably be just me on my lonesome taking alternate turns on the guitar and drums. :(

EDIT: Sorry my fcuk up this is just for the instruments :( But you can add the game for £39.99 still makes it cheaper than £180
