Dodgy "Game" Manager flogs EIGHT Xbox360s on Ebay

misterpol (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 5th December 2005, 22:27

Didn`t get your Xbox 360 on launch day?... this greedy f*cker could be to blame.

It looks like a manager at Game abused their position to make profit over the interests of the general public. He even states if there is a problem with them you can take them back to your local Game store.

Robin Williamson? Livingston branches?

Even though the bidding is closed it simply means that the bidding was high enough for him to close the auction and sell all 8 of the consoles to the first 8 bidders who bid over the reserve price. A seller can close an auction when he feels he has made enough money. At 4 pm today the bids were approaching £400.

I feel Game should investigate this matter and reprimand or even dismiss this member of staff. He quite clearly states he is a manager at a Game store. The name given may be fake but I`m sure there are ways of checking the preorders made for the Xbox360 in branches in Central Scotland.

It may be an elaborate cover story but something does seem odd about it.

what a skank >:( it`s one thing for someone that "genuinly" pre-ordered & got a 360 to take advantage of the stock situation (i have no problem whatsoever with people selling there own "single" 360`s) but this twat is in a position to screw his own customers & sell elswhere for extra personal profit >:(

i hope the c*** gets sacked.

Haha, loved this message:

Q: Hi, can I get points on my Game card for this please?
A: no

Hope he gets pulled in by senior management and sacked for abusing his position. I`m pretty sure someone will have e-mailed Game by now...

Already Done!

I wouldn`t mind if he had only reserved himself one for personal use...I have worked in Game in the past and it really sucks so I don`t mind him using one of the perks of the job. It`s the shameless profiteering that p***ed me off. I`m not even that interested in and Xbox360 - I`m waiting for the Nintendo Revolution.

Think thats bad?

I spent 2 weeks researching my local area (northern ireland) and found who would and would not have the machines come launch day. I decided to camp out at my local pc world as they were not taking preorders and expected stock. A few days before launch, they received their stock and confirmed it would be first come first served. At midnight on december 1st the shop confirmed they had 7 cores for sale that following morning at 9am. I camped out most of the night and was 4th in line. End result? The shop allowed their staff (who were not working that day) to enter the shop before the customers and buy 5 of the 7 consoles, hence screwing my chances of getting one.

A guy i know works there and has since told me of the 5 xbox`s that were bought by staff and friends of staff, all ended up on ebay that same day.

I have contacted their head office regarding this

this story made the national papers today :D tho Game are saying the store "manager" is a bogus charactor & not a member of there staff at all (tho, i would imagine they would say that either way)

i hope the guy gets strung up & sacked :D

All it will take is some enterpsing journo to pass over some money for a copy of one of the receipts promised to the buyers, and they`ll soon find out who it is...

Perhaps you should also lay some blame on the people who buy these off ebay.

It`s a bit like stolen goods, if nobody bought them, there wouldn`t be much of a market for knicking them in the first place.

And as for the store that screwed over its customers by selling xboxes to its staff, never ever buy from them again, because they clearly don`t deserve your money.

My story is sadly, far from unique. This type of dodgy practise has been going on since the 360 usa launch.

When a console can sell on launch day on ebay for $9,300 you kind of know every corrupt employee who can, will exploit it.

What really p***ed me off about my experience was the young mum who was third in the queue waiting to get one for her 8yr old son. She missed out as did alot of people.

I phoned the dsg head office and the pc world customer services department where i heard a collection of lies, depending on who i spoke to. One even had the nerve to tell me that the employees who got consoles were in the queue and were "obviously in front of me" which was nonsense as all of us in the queue chatted all night and i was only 4th in line.

Anway, after hours of talking to various, tedious managers, the end result?

Nothing.

They now claim all the staff had preorders, even though that store would not accept pre orders. When asked why the manager and staff had told us to queue the night before if they knew the staff were getting the consoles, they said it was a communication breakdown.

What do you expect from the curry`s, dixons. pc world bunch.
