Page 1 of Is there much life left in the Xbox?

I`m picking up my 360 tomorrow and am selling my old xbox to a work colleague. they asked me whether new titles would still be released for th console and I said that I would expect it to be supported for at least 12 months.

Does anyone know what Microsofts stance is on this (I know Sony supported PSone for 5 years after the PS2 launch, and are planning the same for PS3)

Microsoft has essentially put the Xbox (and it`s owners) out to pasture. It stopped the production of the console several months ago, and the first-party games dried up long ago.

But that doesn`t mean bollocks. Third-party support will run for a while yet, well into next year, if not til the end of it. And like the Dreamcast showed, just becasue the games eventually stop coming, doesn`t mean the hardware is useless. :)

I read in the OXM that support was set out until 2009..

as you can`t currently buy a 360 until March 06 (unless you visit ebay and part with £700) Xbox is carrying on as normal...

I wouldnt mind picking up an XBox so I can play Halo 2, Doom 3 and Half Life 2. Never had one before...bit late I know!

no console is ever dead as long as there are games on it that you want to play. & the x-box still has many many top shelf titles, i`ve said it before & i`ll say it again, THIS is the time to get x-box/ps2/gamecubes, the consoles are cheap, the games are cheap & there are litteraly thousands of AAA titles between them :)
