i don`t think theres a region x type disc for the x-box, it was in development but it got stopped by M$ so it`s either a softmod or a chip (and i would very strongly recomend getting it properly chipped)

Im going to try softmodding my xbox on saturday using the 007 exploit. Apparently the new ltools package is just as good as getting it modded.

i may sound dumb but what is soft modding? will this make it multi region?

Yeah. Soft modding gives your xbox all the functionality of a chipped xbox without having to rip the f***er open. You use a software exploit in certain games (007, splinter cell etc) and hey presto. A few of the advantages of a modded xbox are, amongst other things, Multiregion playback, divx playback and so on.

A few of the nerds at work have done it quite successfully. And as far as i can tell, the scene has blossomed to the point where its at least 99% success rate. Apparently the only people badmouthing softmods are people with a vested interest in the chip scene.

can you explain this "software exploit" a bit more please? Will I still need an xbox remote to playback dvds or can i use the control pad?

and will it f***k it up?

it can, but only if you do it wrong, but i have to be honest i would NOT entertain a softmod. for the sake of £40 or so, it`s much better to get it done properly with a chip (tho tbh for £40 you mayt need to fit the chip you`reself) for more info on either method, go to www.x-disc.com & http://www.xbox-scene.com/
