Page 1 of Just got my Bongo`s
Gaming and Consoles Forum
Just got myself a copy of Donkey Konga with Bongo Drums, its loads of fun....just as good as Samba de Amigo, if anyone has played this they will know how good it is.
Feels a bit weird though playing Bongo Drums in the living room, nothing a few beers will sort out.
I hope this game gets a UK release. I expect it`ll be very collectable, as Samba de Amigo is. I really wish I hadn`t traded that in.
Do whats the verdict then Skirpy ?
The game is very addictive, you want to better your score by trying to get perfects.....its hard to put down.
The gameplay is simple, when a yellow barrel come`s across you press the left Bongo when it is in the center of the circle, red barrel, you press the right Bongo, pink, you hit both bongos at the same time and clap your hands when a star appears......its very sensitive, you dont need to clap loudly.
Easy mode is very easy, normal mode is a mixture of easy and hard and the hard level is locked.....when you hit your bongos on time, money drops into a barrel for you to buy new songs.
There is a few mini games there as well but have not tried them out yet.
I thought this package with the game and bongos was going to cost more than it did, the drums are very well made, i remember paying £150 for Samba when it was released.
This game cost £80 imported and think this is what it would cost here if it was released, if you don`t mind listening to a mixture of Nintendo gametunes and JPop you will surely love this.
Still feel a bit of a wally clapping my hands though.
Is the longetivity OK with this? Are there loads of different songs? It would be nice if they brought out a clever one of these where u put in any Cd and it would detect the rhythm and allow u play with any track u wanted.

I`m definitely going to get this if it gets a UK release, Samba De Amigo has provided hours of hilarious fun for myself and friends. :)
Oh and of course I do have the dance mats and other DC oddities like the fishing controller... :o

DVD REVIEWER
This game will last for ages....i think there is about 30 songs to start off from, and you can buy some more from Donkey Town, there is 3 difficulty settings.... easy and normal can be played straight away, but the hard levels has to be unlocked by earning money in the easier stages.
The hard level looks impossble at the moment but its all about timing and rythm, a bit of practice is needed.
Multi player mode looks better......eg, in 2 player mode, if a song is playing it will use the 2 players to make a better mix of the song, each player using different button combo`s to progress......it seems to put out the button presses at random, but still staying in rythm with the music.
The game is going to be supported as Namco have gave details for a spring release for the second game to come out.
theres a translation guide at
http://www.gamefaqs.com/ if anyones interested.
this is a brill game although theres an issue with load/save problem if your using the freeloader to play it.
:).....aw cheers Skirpy......the image of someone hunched over a pair of electronic bongo`s has got me smiling....tee hee.
