Gamecube set up

tazz (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 17th December 2003, 16:01

Hi all after a bit of advice

I currentlly am using the cable that comes with the game cube that looks like three phono leads plugging one for video into the tv and the other two into the back of my amp. I want to upgrade to an RGB cable but then how do I still get audio throught the amp it has connections for optical, (unused) coaxial (which I`m using for the DVD player) and Aux (which is where the two phono leads go). Is there an easy option I`m missing?

Cheers guys

The only RGB cable that works with the gamecube is the official nintendo cable (£20). None of the other cheaper alternatives will give out an rgb signal, only composite (the same as the cable that you are using). As far as i know there aren`t any cables that have both rgb scart and stereo cables. Not for the gc anyway. I have tried them all.

Hi

Does your TV have any A/V outputs? If it does, run the RGB scart into the TV
then get some leads to run from the TV to the amp.

Otherwise, go to Gamestation I think they have a universal RGB lead which
fits GC/PS2/Xbox which has AV leads connected.

easily done - go to argos and get their famous scart switch box - it does RGB and has audio out which it takes from the signal. Nice `n` easy!

thats the one, but if you are prepared to spend a bit more, theres a VERY nice AV centre in the gadgets section on Play.com by joytech for just under forty notes.

If you have a look for scart pin layouts, you could always buy the official RGB cable and take the audio output from there, attach a couple of phono plugs on the end of a bit of cable and you`re done.

There are other cables about that DO produce an RGB signal, but they are simply not as good as the Nintendo cable. I had two different makes of the 3rd party RGB cables. One of them produced a signal that was extremely bright, so the whole screen turned white most of the time, and the other lacked any real contrast.

The Nintendo cable on the other hand, was great, straight out of the box.
