Copy XBOX games and emulators on to Hardrive

Chris MH (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 29th January 2003, 14:06

Hi,
Does anyone know how to copy xbox games/ emulators on to the XBOX hardrive. I know it can be done .. using some sort of programming mode. Its a good way of using up the large hardrive and saves your games getting damaged.

That sounds good in theory but so does Micro$oft giving us all a cheque for £45 to pay for their games sounds good also................:-)

(And you`ve never copied a mates cd/tape). Whats the point in having such a large hard drive if your are not going to benefit from it. It can definately be done and it involves your xbox being chipped! It saves your £45 games becoming unusable if/when they get scratched.

It requires a mod chip and the evolution desktop. Mind you copying games is illegal thus not talked about on dvd reviewer. The best thing about mod chiping your xbox is that you can install a 120gig hdd and use XBMP to stream divx, mpg, mp3 etc from your PC to the xbox. Now thats sweet. Also you can install linux and have a terminal for a few hundred £`s. It`s a pretty easy task.

P.S You can get Xmame and run 1000`s of classic arcade games on your big widescreen tele :0)

I have a chip programmer, and a bunch of blank chips for sale on the trading forum at the moment if anyones interested. You can pay up to £20 for a chip, but with this programmer you can make your own.

I`m totally new to this. Is the backup process a complicated thing to do? Is there anyone who has had their machine chipped and the necessary programming done? Where would could I get this done and for how much?

If you live in Birmingham, there is a shop that will supplie and fit the mod chip for £60, and for an extra £10 they will also install a new dashboard that will allow you to back up to the hard drive and other stuff.
