Will a UK PS2 play R1 DVD`s, and if not can it be hacked??

YES it can. You can get a ps2 REGION X which is a cd you put in the ps2 and choose what region you want to play 1-6. No need to chip your console. Its great... If you want one cheap check out ebay....

i got mine from www.play.com you get the region x disc/ rgb scart lead /remote control all for £17.99

Do you need to put in those upgrade codes from the web site every time you want to play a region 1 DVD, or is it a 1 off process ? If it`s every time the "DVD Region Free" product from Blaze (£6.99 at Play) seems a better deal.
Just wondering which it`s best to go for, if anyone has any views.

The codes are a one off. My son has a DVD Region X and it works every time, no problems. It even gets past the DVD/RGB cable limitation on PS2s so you get a better quality picture.
