Page 1 of From Hell Anomorphic
DVDs & Films Forum
I admit to being a bit green about this but i thought anomorphic meant it should fill the whole screen but From Hell (and a few others i have that claim to be anomorphic) still have the black bars at either end - then films like So I Married an Axe Murderer and As Good As It Gets fill the screen and now I`m going to lie down as i feel dizzy! Can someone please explain?? Thanks.
May i suggest you look at the features section of www.dvdtimes.co.uk as they have a full explanation of aspect ratios and anamorphic widescreen (Apologies to the DVD Reviewer team if there is also an explanation on this site too).
I`m presuming you do have a 16:9 TV? also note that anamorphic widescreen retains the original aspect ratio of the film (which in the case of From Hell is 2.35:1, significantly wider than than a 16:9 TV.)
But the full explanation will answer all your questions.
