An American Werewolf in London bargain or not?

HugoMorse (Competent) posted this on Monday, 8th April 2002, 20:13

Hallo all. I`m not covering old ground but really have a query. The UK release of AAWIL is on 2-discs whereby the Aussie one is only on one. All the websites (Play, etc.) list different running times also.

The UK is stated at 1hr 33m on the websites with the Aussie (printed on the case) running at 1hr 31m.

Can anyone confirm if the Aussie one is cut and why it is only on one disc?

hi

the R1 version is only on 1 disk as well and that contains a DTS soundtrack as well as a dolby digital 5.1 track as well

you get the same extras on all regions and there are no cuts on ANY region

check out:

but as usual R2 is probably the most expensive with a needless 2nd disk to help make universal bump up the price for us british suckers

thanks

Geoff

As someone told me in an earlier thread, the extra disk is due to the extra languages needed in the european market.

Out of curiousity I decided to check the printed times on the UK release and Aussie. Now, these are the timings as printed by Universal, the UK runs at 1hr 33m and the Aussie (1 disk) runs at 1hr 31m. The extra features both run at 56m so what gives. Are there scenes missing or not?

I was searching the forum and found this link by another post on the same subject: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21477 apparently the breast scene in the shower is missing, which I do remember. However, just to let everyone know, I read somewhere that the breast belongs to a body double!

Anyway, the important thing to remember is that the producers (i.e. Universal) often remove scenes to achieve a specific rating rather than scenes being officially cut. This would explain the above. So the challenge is to find out where the missing two minutes are on the UK to the Aussie version, as according to Universal the timings are official.

People may save £4 by buying the Aussie release but loosing 2 minutes is like buying bear only to find later it is alcohol free!!!

The challenge commences...

Writing in a hurry often does that 2 u!!!

I heard that if you leave food in your car while parked in a reserve in Canada then the bear`s will destroy the car to get to it. So, maybe there are alcohol free and drunk bears in Canada after all ;o)

That`s probably why Yogi was always after the picnic`s, bo-bo.

He did have a problem with that word Picnic. Or pic-i-nic.

Hence the expression "Bear with a sore head" maybe?

That`ll be the Hoffmeister Bear then. No wonder he always wore a hat! (younger readers go and ask your dad!)
