Would you buy a DVD that was non-anamorphic ?
Hey guys,
Kinda self explanatory...would you buy it ?

RE: Would you buy a DVD that was non-anamorphic ?
In this day and age it would depend on the title and how badly I wanted it. I have about 18 non-anamorphic which I bought in the early days of DVD, but newer versions haven`t been released for some of these so I had little choice.
I would avoid non-anamorphic at most costs though.

i`ve bought quite a few myself, and was dissapointed to say the least, the biggest was probably The Abyss SE, the picture is ultra small on my 32" widescreen telly.
have to reach for the zoom button >:{

Like the guys said above - in the early days I bought a few because I wanted the films, but I dont think I would these days - it would be out of order to release a non-anamorphic transfer!!!!
Ive got the Abyss as well - Ive only got a 28 incher , so its even smaller than yours..... Telly by the way!

Call me a dumbass, but what is the difference between amorphic and non-amorphic?
RE: Would you buy a DVD that was non-anamorphic ?
i have had both R3 non anamorphic and R1 anamorphic versions of The One
there is little difference in picture quality on my 28in widescreen

I have a mix of both types, and to be honest, I can`t tell the difference.

You can usually tell the difference if you use a widescreen TV. The quality is better with anamorphic as there are more lines of resolution.

NO.

Only if I really want the film and it`s unlikely that an anamorphic version will be released in the near future i.e. The Abyss. I have 3 such films in my collection so far (from about 80).
I recently found out that one of them however is anamorphic for Region 1 (Jackie Chan 1st Strike), so I reckon its about time I got my Sony chipped!
