How odd. I took a notion to watch The Final Cut for the first time tonight, then I discover that it was on BBC2. Now, you`re asking about it here.

We all must have implanted memories, right?

Depends on a few things, like which is your preferred version of the film and how much stock you put in bonus material. If you`re not that bothered about owning multiple versions the Final Cut is very cheap now (around a fiver) and it`s Scott`s preferred version of the film. The AV is pretty good considering it came out in 2007. The US had a five-disc release that has the FC, the DC, the US and International theatrical cuts and the workprint, plus a bunch of extras, but that`s no longer available if I recall correctly.

However, there`s now a 30th Anniversary release that comes on three discs but features all of the content from the five disc set (it uses higher capacity discs). It also upgrades the audio on the workprint from Dolby Digital 5.1 to DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and comes with an `Art of Blade Runner` book and a model of the spinner car. It`s currently £28 on Amazon (haven`t looked elsewhere) and if I was buying today that`s what I`d get. I already have the five-disc US set so I can`t really justify the cost for lossless audio on the workprint and a few novelty items. Workprint audio aside, all of the other cuts have the same audio/video from the 2007 release, so VC-1 with TrueHD/Dolby Digital.

BTW, it`s Blu-ray (no `e` small `r`), just for reference :)

I also stayed up way too late watching Dangerous Days last night/this morning, in spite of owning the BD set...

I would contemplate getting this, but I just can`t get over the fact I find the film depressingly boring

I think it`s definitely a Marmite movie. Love it or hate it.

For me, it`s in my top three movies. Never tire of watching it. The Final Cut is the best version, too.

But I know several people who don`t see what all the fuss is about.
