Is this the correct place to get some tips on obtaining region 1 DVD`s?
RE: Region 1 Purchase
yup, if its an online retailer you are after, i`d try http://www.play.com/
Go to this site:
http://www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk/
It`s great for comparing prices. It has virtually all the sites on there.
Hope it helps?

Ok then here goes.
So I could purhaps order through a Uk web site as the 2 suggested.
Haven`t been able to see the couple of titles I`m interested there.
But I would think that leaves me to attempt to order from one of the 2 sites I see them on in the USA, would they accept on order from UK, would I have to pay any tax/duties here?
Any problems asking someone on a trip to USA to bring them back forme?
Any problems asking a friend living in USA to send me them and sending them the cost?
Here`s the thing, when sending a package from the USA, no matter what it is, £18 is the limit befor eyou get tax, £36 if the package is marked as gift. This applies to web purchases and friends posting it, but you can always risk it. The customs office can`t check them all but they are a lot tighter now then they were a year ago.
http://www.amazon.com has the biggest selection od DVDs I`ve ever seen, if you can`t find it there then I don`t know anywhere that has a bigger selection. But they charge you postage, use http://www.dvdboxoffice.com or http://www.absound.ca for DVDs that`s more common and free delivery.
Never mind who you should use- avoid like the plague

if you need to know why
i use www.cdwow.com to save paying custom`s duty they send each dvd serately the average price is £14.99 per dvd you have to have a multiregion player, i have orderd on a sunday and they have arrived on wedensday
I would say the two best places for buying Region 1 disks are Play.com (follow the banners from the R1 and R2 pages on this site), or if they haven`t got a title, go to www.dvdboxoffice.com.
Play is in Jersey and DVDBO is in Canada. Unless you want box sets, both companies will make sure your order ships so that it will not attract the unwanted attention of Customs. Remember that anything costing less than £18 (incl.p&p) will get through Customs unmolested unless you are importing adult materials that contravene BBFC regulations.
As long as you have a credit card, you shouldn`t have any problems with overseas orders.
Any further questions, don`t hesitate to ask.
