Page 1 of Mark Kermode has higher respect for Uwe Boll than he does for Guy Ritchie!!!!

Mark said he is the worst director in the world, but Uwe Boll is basically an explotation filmmaker, so therefore Mark has higher respect for him.

I think that`s a bit strong from Kermode. There`s nothing Boll has done that`s even come close to Lock, Stock or Snatch.

I think his point was that Boll doesn`t pretend to be something he`s not, whereas that mockney twat thinks he`s some kind of filmmaking genius.

...does anyone actually care what Mark Kermode and his `50`s throw-back hair think anymore? He`s a self-admitted "snot-nosed critic" whose reviews are only worth listening to for a laugh these days... :/

I usually agree with him, with a few notable exceptions. I`m not quite as vitriolic when expressing my views, but that`s what makes listening to his show so much fun. I`d rather have Kermode than that bland twat who does Radio 1 and gives thumbs up to utter s*** just because he`s down with the kids, or Ross and his inability to recognise a good film unless his wife wrote it. Kermode`s serious presenting stuff is pretty good though, like the documentaries on Shawshank, Blade Runner and The Exorcist.

Oh definitely. I kind of wish he`d stick to the more serious-type presenting (he`s not bad on The Culture Show either. At times).

I even agree with his opinions on certain films like The Exorcist and Pan`s Labyrinth. It`s just some of the things he comes out with for certain films can make him sound so pretentious and... well, a bit of a nob*. ;)

Boll is surely the Wood of his time just without the cult standing. As for Ritchie, his post wedding output has been shall we say, sh**e.

As for Kermode i find him far too pretentious to take seriously, James King on Radio 1 is just the worst movie reviewer of all time and the fact he is employed to do the job he does shows just far lowbrow Radio 1 is these days. Ross is a self important dipsh*t who i would be quite happy to never see on the television again......bring back Barry Norman if you ask me.

Boll is a talentless waste of oxygen but, unlike Guy Ritchie, he doesn`t believe his own hype. He just thinks the critics are wrong. Fair play to him, he did put up or shut up with the boxing matches - if Ritchie did that, the queue would be miles long!
I had the dubious pleasure of reviewing Seed a while ago and Tunnel Rats arrived last week.

As for Mark Kermode, he has his opinions and expresses them very well, due in no small part to his doctorate in English Literature, no doubt. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of film and knows what he`s talking about. I bet conversations about film in his house are interesting!

Bet they`re not. Bet they`re very one-sided with him using his encyclopedic knowledge of film to browbeat anybody with a different viewpoint into submission.

I religiously avoid movies by either Ritchie or Boll, so I`m in no place to comment. :D

I`d agree with Mark here, I think.

I`ve seen a couple of Boll films now and they`ve been pretty dire all told (just hoping Tunnel Rats bucks the trend...) whilst along with Mark I`ve avoided Ritchie films like the plague.
