Watchmen could now be on hold?

The other big suit that hit today was filed by 20th Century Fox against Warner Bros, claiming they and they alone have the rights to make a film based on WATCHMEN. Umm... wouldn`t it have been a good idea to let WB know this before they shot the damn movie?

It`s a long, complicated claim (read the details here!), but I can`t help but wonder how this went so far without Fox realizing it. I don`t know what exactly they want, but it reads like they`re trying to stop any further movement of the movie. Scope this:

"...restrain (Warner Bros. Pictures) from taking actions that violate Fox`s copyrights and which stand to forever impair Fox`s rights to control the distribution and development of this unique work."

I hope something can be worked out because I`m really psyched to see Zack Snyder`s version of this universe, especially after seeing how awesome the publicity stills have been so far.

Scotsman Gerard Butler has confirmed to Empire Magazine that the animated "Tales of the Black Freighter" supplement in the original "Watchmen" graphic novel will be shot for the upcoming DVD release of the film.

The comic-within-a-comic tells the tale of a castaway`s mental and physical deterioration and damnation as he tries to intercept a ghost freighter headed for his hometown.

"I`m going to do the voice of the captain. They`re going to do it in the style of a Japanese anime and I`m totally stoked" says Butler.

It doesn`t sound like Fox has managed to stop the movie, according to the official website filming wrapped on 19th February and they are now onto post production.

The picture of Rorschach they have at the top of the blog looks pretty impressive as well.

Hey folks, Harry here... I just got home from watching the blissfully retarded epic 10,000 B.C. and got hit with a Link to the WATCHMEN all suited up... talk about a refreshing distraction from the cinematic paint fumes I just got high off of. Can`t write that review up till tomorrow night - but till then... for something entirely different - and awesome... Quint chimes in below!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Gotta say I love `em. I`m a little sketchy on Ozymandias, but all the others without reservation. I especially love Silk Spectre... Now that`s a comic book superhero outfit! Nite Owl looks kickass and Comedian looks sleazy as s***. Very happy! These were posted at the official site, by the way (thanks for the heads up Gregory and Jed for the heads up!).

Got to say I agree that the only one that looks a bit off is Ozymandias.

Edit- I would change the title of the thread but it`s too old, don`t know if there`s a mod that could change it to something like Watchmen thread?

I`m not too keen on Ozymandias - looks a little wimpy, not at all what I expected from the novel; also Nite Owl looks a bit too much like Batman.

Just watched it. Looking pretty good at the moment.

Dr Manhattan looks really good and to be honest, he was the character I thought would be hardest to pull off.

PS- I`d edit the thread title to just Watchmen or something but the thread`s too old to let me.
